Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a disease that afflicts around 200,000 people in Japan and over 5 million people worldwide. It is classified as an “intractable disease” by the Japanese government.

We are now trying to develop a drug to cure UC.
In our research group, we discovered a pathological autoantibody of ulcerative colitis.
Our research team has discovered a pathological autoantibody of ulcerative colitis (UC), a designated “intractable disease” of unknown cause.
In 2021 this pathological autoantibody will start to be used for the diagnosis of UC in hospitals throughout Japan.
